orthogonal18: export 1, Rehau, Germany 2018

IKKP Kunsthaus Rehau
21.09 - 3.11, 2018

Conceived as international forum in 2011, orthogonal introduces the Bulgarian public to a variety of contemporary artists and theoreticians who work in the field of non-objective art. Apart from an exhibition of artefacts the event offers a programme of lectures, screenings and workshops for children. The events deal with contemporary and historical issues of this art movement little known in Bulgaria. All four editions of the forum have been supported by the Gaudenz B. Ruf Award. A total of 35 authors from 14 countries have so far been represented at orthogonal.

The fourth edition of orthogonal took place between 21 september and 3 november 2018 at IKKP Kunsthaus Rehau, Germany. Historically, this was the first group show of Bulgarian geometric art abroad. The exhibition presented the work of 9 Bulgarian artists of all generations since modern times till present day. It included oil painting, drawing, animation, collage and serigraphy..

Participants: Adriana Czernin, Georgi Dimitrov, Krasimira Stikar, Maria Chakarova, Nikolay Petkov. Original paintings and serigraphs by the late Nikolay Diulgheroff, Georgi Yanakiev, Petar Dochev and Ivan Shumanov were also featured in the exhibition.
